Welcome to the web site of the Auberge de l'Abbaye.

Our cozy hotel-restaurant is situated in the center of Thiron Gardais, a lovely little town about two hour’s drive south west of Paris. We are between Chartres and Le Mans, only a few miles (kilometers) away of the A11, which makes it very easy to reach us.

Thiron Gardais is situated in the heart of the beautiful natural region 'Le Perche'. Here you can be either lazy or enjoy a very active vacation.

The rolling hills and dales are excellent for walking, mountain biking or taking a leisure drive by car or motorbike.

Not far away is a big pond (no fishing permit necessairy) and also lots of smaller lakes which just beg the fisherman to try his luck.

In the town Nogent-le-Rotrou is an indoor swimming pool with water slides, which is about 15 km drive away. For our hotel guest the pool in our own garden is a welcom refreshment.

Also nearby you'll find several golf courses (9 and 18 Holes) and in Brou the whole family can play golf on a Swin-course.

If horseback riding is what you want, there are riding stables, and organizations for wagon and covered wagon rides.

Culture lovers will enjoy the Cathedrals of Chartres and Le Mans. Over there you can also find the modern Shopping Centers.

And don't forget the “City of Lights” Paris is only a two hour’s drive from our hotel.

>> Who are we

We, that is Debbie and Koen, and our friendly dog Largo. We got married in 1997 and are the owners of this hotel-restaurant since January 2009. Although we are now living approximately 500 km from Antwerp (Belgium) we feel very much at home in this typical French style of living in our newly renovated hotel.

 

Debbie's parents are Dutch, but she has lived her whole life in Belgium. This Dutch / Belgian combination is the basis of her good nature and enthusiasm, which makes her a perfect hospitable hostess.

Koen was born and raised in Belgium and from an early age loved to be in the kitchen. His hobby, after many years, is now paying off. Our guests will enjoy his wonderful dishes and his well balanced menus.

 

Largo is the friendly eurasier who loves being petted and is close friends with other dogs.

The Auberge de l'Abbaye is managed by the both of us, which you will notice by the quality of service and the hospitality we will offer you.

The hotel is named after the nearby Abbey, of which the garden is open to the public.

The outside of our building as well as the bar and restaurant are newly remodeled in the original style: stone walls, wood beams and old tiles.

On the second floor, which you will reach walking up the wide wooden staircase, are the 8 guest rooms, of which 7 are completely refurbished, and with your comfort in mind, all equipped with showers, toilet and wash basin, flat screen television, telephone and wireless Internet.

Our own private apartment is on the third floor, which means there’s always someone available if needed.

At the back of the hotel, which is situated lower than the front of the hotel, we have a covered area for your motorcycle and/or mountain bike.

You will also find a large garden with small shrubs as well as large trees, which offer you nice and cool shade. Our arbour will provide you a romantic "get away".
The garden is for the pleasure of our guests only, so you can enjoy your stay with us on private property.
